Figure Mods - another WiP Update

While the rank and file were held up waiting for new drill bits the trial figure was finished and the command figures painted, only their gloss varnish to do now.

First, the trial figure.

The Officer (not my favourite).

The Drummer (my favourite).

And finally, the standard bearer - you'll be able to see how 'impressionistic' (messy?) the painting is in gory detail in the close up if you click on the photo.

The rank and file have all now been re-headed and are being painted, so hopefully not too long now.

  1. They have painted up very nicely indeed,I must admit I quite like the officer figure, looks rather good to me, as they all do, once they get their shiny coat on they really will look the business I would say.

    1. Thanks, I agree a nice coat of shininess makes all the difference.

  2. They all look pretty good to me! Great job with the black lining too, it really makes the details pop.

    1. Thanks, actually did the black lining with a brush this time - I often use a fine black pen. I make sure the less accessible side of the black line is in the right place then touch up the other side to get it nice and thin - I find it hard to just paint a fine black line.

  3. Very nice paint work. The colours will really pop once varnished.

    1. And they will return for a final bow when based and varnished.

  5. I think everyone agrees that you're being far too hard on youself, Rob. This is a really stunning achievement. You've made yourself an extremely stylish and unique set of soldiers , which retain all the charm of their HH parentage - except even better, in my opion. Well done indeed.

    1. I'm not being hard, the officer not being my favourite is, I think, more down to the pose than the modification. As for the messy painting, that's as much to encourage others not to worry about very fine detail as anything else; you can't see it in real life, or at least I can't.

  6. Great work Rob and the flag is brilliant!

  7. Thanks, the flag is double-thickness aluminium foil wrapped around the steel wire flag pole - needless to say it was WM who talked me into doing flags like this and then hand painting them.
Just got touching up to do now - then basing and varnishing.
